Basic criteria for the work permit are:
Are in good health and pass a medical exam upon request.
Ensure that you obey the law and have no criminal record.
Show that they have enough financial resources to support yourself and your dependents while you are in Canada.
Intention to leave Canada at the end of employment.
Plan to work for an employer who is not listed in ‘ineligible employers’.
Prove that you are meeting the skill requirements that are required by the position you have applied for.
You will not be a danger to Canada’s security system.
You must meet the general requirements of entering, staying and working in Canada. As a result, you may be required to obtain a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).
Your spouse or common law partner and your dependent children may apply to come to Canada with you.
Note: Even if you are a visitor in Canada, you can look for employment opportunities and apply for a work permit within Canada.

To live in Canada permanently you need to qualify under an immigration category. An exception to this rule applies for Live in Caregivers who meets certain requirements and may be eligible to live in Canada permanently.
